Orange Regional Medical Center Offers Free Mammograms

June 17, 2011

Middletown, NY- Orange Regional Medical Center will offer free mammograms on Saturday, July 9, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Ray W. Moody, M.D. Breast Center located at the Orange Regional Medical Pavilion, 75 Crystal Run Road in Middletown. Appointments are limited and must be made by Wednesday, July 6, 2011. Pre-registration is required.

During the hour-long appointment, you will be screened for breast cancer by having a clinical breast exam and mammography. The appointment will also include breast health education and training. The event is open to women without health insurance. Participants must be over 40 years of age and have not had a mammogram within a year's time or under 40 at high risk (patient will be contacted to determine if at high risk). The screening will be led by Howard M. Karpoff, M.D., Chairman of the Department of Surgery.

Orange Regional Medical Center Receives Keys to New Hospital

June 14, 2011

Middletown, NY- On Tuesday, April 26, 2011, Lou Heimbach, Chair of Orange Regional Medical Center's Board of Directors accepted the keys to the new medical center located at 707 East Main Street in Middletown from Fred S. Kummer, President and CEO of HBE Corporation, the design-build firm contracted to constructed the new facility. This historic event marks the conclusion of the three year construction project that broke ground in 2008. The new Orange Regional Medical Center is the first hospital to be built in the state of New York in over 20 years. It is scheduled to open this summer.

"We are exceptionally proud of this brand new hospital. It provides state-of-the-art technology in a warm and contemporary atmosphere. I would like to thank everyone who has worked so hard on all aspects of the enormous project," said Lou Heimbach.

Orange Regional Medical Center will consolidate its two existing campuses, Arden Hill and Horton, into the new 600,000 + square foot facility situated on 61 acres. Conveniently located at the intersection of Route 17 and I-84 in the Town of Wallkill, the new facility features:

Orange Regional Medical Center Hosts Free Educational Seminar on Bariatric Surgery

Middletown, NY- Orange Regional Medical Center will host a free educational seminar "Bariatric Weight Loss Surgery" on Tuesday, June 21 at 6:00 p.m. at the Lodge at Rock Hill, 283 Rock Hill Drive, Rock Hill. Orange Regional's Bariatric Support Group will meet immediately following the seminar. This support group is for both pre- and post-op weight loss surgical patients and is open to the general public. The topic that will be discussed at the support group will be nutrition - eating challenges.

Join Janet Kovler, M.S., R.D., C.D.N., C.D.E., Orange Regional's Bariatric Surgical Services Coordinator, for this information-filled seminar where obesity treatment options including non-surgical approaches and gastric bypass, sleeve gastrectomy and gastric banding surgery will be discussed by one of Orange Regional Medical Center's Board-certified, Fellowship-trained bariatric surgeons.
