Orange Regional Medical Center Celebrates Enters 'Pink Glove Dance' Video National Competition

October 12, 2012

Middletown, NY- Orange Regional Medical Center has unveiled its Pink Glove Dance video to underscore the importance of breast cancer awareness and early detection. The dance video features hospital employees, volunteers and physicians performing a choreographed routine within various departments throughout the hospital and its outpatient locations. The video offers a unique way of bringing breast cancer awareness to the forefront and is sponsored by Medline, manufacturers of the pink glove.

“The Pink Glove Dance was a fun and different way to get the word out about breast cancer awareness. Our hope is that when people see the video, it reminds them to get regular check-ups or to encourage the women in their lives to do so. Early detection saves lives,” states Ray W. Moody, M.D. Breast Center Manager, Penny Lynch.

The voting period for the national competition is from October 12th to October 26th. Viewers can vote for Orange Regional Medical Center’s video by visiting www.ormc.org/PinkGloveDance. The top three video submissions receive a donation in their name to the breast cancer charity of their choice. The winners will be announced November 2nd on pinkglovedance.com.

The original Pink Glove Dance video premiered in November 2009 and featured 200 Portland, Oregon hospital workers wearing pink gloves, manufactured by Medline, dancing in support of breast cancer awareness and early detection. Since then, the Pink Glove Dance has gone nationwide with hospitals across the country producing their own Pink Glove Dance video. In 2011, Medline decided to offer a $10,000 donation to a charity of choice for the video that received the most votes.

“Once we saw the original video, we immediately wanted to produce our own,” said Vice President of Oncology & Outpatient Services, Sandra Iberger. “Our workers were so excited and inspired to be part of our own Pink Glove Dance. Even more touching are the breast cancer survivors on our staff that participated and are a testament for hope and survival.” Orange Regional partnered with AV Insights, Inc. to produce the video and Studio Ayo Fitness taught the choreography. All services were donated.
