Free Wi-Fi Hot Spots Now Offered at Orange Regional Medical Center

Wednesday, January 23rd, 2008

Middletown, NY- Patients and visitors with laptops or personal digital assistants (PDA) at Orange Regional Medical Center can now surf the web while waiting for their new baby to arrive or while a loved one undergoes a procedure thanks to free Wi-Fi access at its Horton and Arden Hill Campuses. Wi-Fi stands for Wireless Fidelity - otherwise known as Wireless Networking. Any electronic device containing a wireless B or G capable wireless card is able to connect in all public areas of each campus including the lobby, waiting rooms, the cafeteria and patient rooms.

When patients and visitors turn on their laptop computers or wireless devices, in areas identified by Wi-Fi signage, they will see a network named "ORMCPublic” in the wireless network list on their screens. Upon connecting, they will notice a disclaimer page on their Internet browser, and after accepting the terms of use, they are provided with free access to the Internet.

Orange Regional will maintain the right to monitor all Wi-Fi activity, filter content and otherwise control or prohibit usage. In addition, all visitors and patients are asked to secure all valuables, including notebook computers and PDAs, at all times. Orange Regional Medical Center cannot be responsible for loss or damage to these items.

While printing access is not available via the wireless connection, all users need to do is save their work to a portable storage device (e.g. floppy disk, USB storage device) or wait to print a document on a home printer. An alternative to printing is to e-mail files to one's email account.

Four Orange Regional Registered Nurses Receive Special Orthopedic Certification

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

(Middletown, NY) - Orange Regional Medical Center proudly announces that four of its registered nurses have been certified as Orthopedic Registered Nurses by the National Association of Orthopaedic Nurses (NAON).

Tracy Blum, Bonnie-Jo Grazian, Tara Levesque and Simone Stein were certified through the Orthopaedic Nursing Certification Board (ONCB). They work at The Bone and Joint Center at the Horton Campus of Orange Regional Medical Center. Each nurse passed an exam that was given by NAON through the ONCB.
