Ongoing Clinical Education at Orange Regional Medical Center

June 24th, 2009

Middletown, NY - As part of the hospital's commitment to ongoing clinical education, Orange Regional Medical Center has introduced a series of live Clinical Pathologic Conference case presentations, also known as Grand Rounds. Grand Rounds are formal presentations at which physicians within a specific medical field discuss clinical cases of one or more anonymous patients. These monthly presentations allow Orange Regional to share advanced medical findings and techniques with the hospital's employees for educational purposes as well as enable employees to better articulate services, procedures and their benefits to patients.

"The grand rounds series has highlighted the talent we have on staff at Orange Regional," said Dr. James Oxley, Medical Director at Orange Regional Medical Center. "The quality of these presentations rivals any grand rounds series I have seen."

Grand Rounds originated as part of residency training at teaching hospitals, where new information was taught and clinical reasoning skills were enhanced. Today, Grand Rounds are an integral part of ongoing medical education. Orange Regional's Grand Rounds focus on an array of sub-specialties that affect patients within the community and have included Emergency Medicine, Cardiology, Spine Care and Neurology among other medical topics.

Congressman John Hall Holds Health Care Roundtable

June 22nd, 2009

Orange Regional Medical Center Hosts Event at Arden Hill Campus

Middletown, New York — On Tuesday, June 2, Congressman John Hall visited to the Arden Hill Campus of Orange Regional Medical Center in Goshen where he led a healthcare roundtable discussion to better understand issues surrounding local health care. The forum brought stakeholders from across the Hudson Valley together to gather their input.

From left to right, Congressman John Hall discusses healthcare reform with Orange Regional Medical Center's President and CEO, Scott Batulis, and Orange Regional Medical Center's Vice President of Administration at the Arden Hill Campus, Jonathan Schiller

To gain ideas of how to provide greater access to health coverage in the Hudson Valley, Congressman Hall called upon healthcare experts in the Hudson Valley including Scott Batulis, CEO, Orange Regional Medical Center; Ruth-Ellen Blodgett, Sr. Vice President, Planned Parenthood - Mid Hudson Valley; Dr. Paul Kaye, Medical Director, Hudson River HealthCare; Linda Dickman, 1199 SEIU RN Division Contract Administrator, Orange Regional Medical Center; Erica Broussard, 1199 SEIU Executive Council representative, Orange Regional Medical Center; Michele Quirolo, President & CEO, Visiting Nurse Association of the Hudson Valley; Nasir Mahmood, President, Pharmacists Society of the State of New York; and Dan Grady, President & CEO, Hospice of Orange & Sullivan Counties, Inc.

"This is one of the most critical issues I will face in Congress, and I'm committed to seeking out diverse perspectives as I prepare for these important votes," said Congressman Hall.

"More than any other issue, what we do with health care on a national level, affects people every day in their personal lives."

The Congressman added that the healthcare stakeholders and experts he brought together to talk about what's wrong, are the individuals who spend every day immersed in this issue.

"I wanted to hear from them, first-hand, about their experiences. I was there to listen to their viewpoints on what's working, what's not working, what pieces need major overhaul, what needs just a few tweaks, and of course what we should leave alone," said the Congressman.
