Inpatient Pediatric Unit
Orange Regional Medical Center has a dedicated Inpatient Pediatric Unit
on the 5th floor of the hospital with 12 spacious, private patient rooms. With your support, we will continue to develop and enhance pediatric services and care for more children from our community. To provide specialized care to children admitted to the hospital, a Pediatric Hospitalist program has been established. Pediatric Hospitalists are physicians who specialize in the care of children, but only while they are hospitalized. Upon discharge, children will be treated by their primary care provider, a Pediatrician or another sub-specialist.
In addition, as more sub-specialty services become available during the second and third years of our plan to enhance Pediatrics, the need for Inpatient care would also increase. In the third year, some of the Inpatient rooms will be retrofitted to accommodate a higher level of care for children and designated as Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Rooms. With the addition of sub-specialty Pediatricians, Pediatric Hospitalists and all of the specialized equipment in place, Orange Regional will be prepared to care for children who face a wider variety of illnesses or injuries.
We plan to create a Pediatric Center that will provide the ultimate patient experience. The plans to achieve this extraordinary experience include creative décor, furnishings and amenities. Some of the highlights include special areas for children in waiting rooms, new activity stations in patient rooms, enhancements to the 5th floor playroom, a parent comfort room with a computer and more. Additionally, all hospital staff who interact with pediatric patients, from admission to discharge, will receive sensitivity training to ensure that a child’s full experience in the hospital is the best it can be.
