According to the American Cancer Society, lung cancer is the second most common cancer in both men and women and accounts for about 14% of all new cancers and 28% of all cancer deaths. In 2012, an estimated 226,160 new cases of lung cancer was diagnosed (116,471 men and 109,690 women) and an estimated 160,340 deaths (87,750 men and 72,590 women) occurred.
