Artwork: The Visual Power of Beauty and Healing

It has been proven that if patients have interesting, suitable and welcoming views of artwork to look at, they will make a more rapid recovery. The power of art has the ability to transport a person from their immediate circumstances to a more pleasant state of mind.

With this in mind, Orange Regional Medical Center chose to grace its hallways and common areas with artwork. Art enhances and humanizes the hospital environment for patients, families, staff and the community. By providing a nurturing setting, we are able to use the artwork to soften the clinical environment and promote healing.

Orange Regional’s artwork has imagery that mimics Hudson Valley landscapes: foliage and local sceneries. The art collection comprises an array of over 900 pieces including prints, photographs and a variety of fine art mediums.

Art Show Exhibitions

Orange Regional will host an art exhibition in its public corridor near the cafeteria to showcase the work of local artists. The exhibition will feature rotating works every six weeks.

The Hudson Valley touts a large art community that has been supportive of this hospital throughout its history. Orange Regional wants to return this support and appreciation by showcasing local artists’ works. Therefore, we are asking for art submissions from all artists working and/or residing in Orange and Sullivan counties.

Consistent with our mission, we are seeking artwork of the highest quality that will provide a life-affirming, healing and supportive environment for our patients, families, caregivers, students, faculty and staff.
