2010 Golf Classic a Success!

(Middletown, New York) — On Monday, June 21, Orange Regional Medical Center's Foundation held its 19th annual Golf Classic raising $241,000 to benefit the Comprehensive Cancer Care Program at Orange Regional Medical Center.
The Golf Classic had record participation, hosting 244 golfers. The generous support provided via sponsorships, golfer participation and the donation of goods and services from businesses across the region all led to a tremendously successful event.
Foundation President Christine Maraia said, "We are so pleased with the sustained support of our community and employees. The Classic, with all of its components, requires a large-scale employee volunteer effort and Orange Regional's staff gives of themselves each year in a heartwarming and meaningful way."
Orange Regional Medical Center has the latest technology for cancer diagnosis as well as sophisticated procedures, access to new cancer treatments through advanced clinical trials, and leading oncology experts committed to compassionate care. The Cancer Care program is accredited as a Community Hospital Comprehensive Cancer Program from The Commission on Cancer of the American College of Surgeons.

Ray W. Moody, M.D. Breast Center Receives Recognitions

(Middletown, NY) - Orange Regional Medical Center is proud to announce the following staff promotions and certifications.
Penny Lynch, R.T. (M) (R), CBE-C, CBPN-C has been promoted to Manager of the Ray W. Moody, MD Breast Center. Penny is a seasoned clinician with over 25 years experience in breast imaging.
Michelle Worden, RN has been hired as the Ray W. Moody, MD Breast Center Patient Navigator. Michele has been a member of the Orange Regional staff for over 30 years. Michelle is a trained critical care nurse with much success in the fields of Radiology and Oncology services.
As Patient Navigator, Michelle will focus on:
• working with a team to collaboratively assess, plan, facilitate and evaluate timely, quality care for each patient
• creating a seamless bridge between the patient and the numerous disciplines involved in the patient's medical care
• ensuring an interdisciplinary, patient-focused, system of care for oncology patients coping with breast cancer in our community
Patient Navigator Certification Exam
Ray W. Moody, MD Breast Center staff members recently passed the Patient Navigator Certification Exam offered by Johns Hopkins Hospital in conjunction with the National Consortium of Breast Centers.
Breast Center Manager, Penny Lynch, R.T. R.M. CBEC CBPN-C is now a certified breast patient navigator in breast imaging and cancer care.
Women's Imaging Coordinator, Kelly Pizarro, R.T.R.M CBPN-I and Mammography Technician, Doris Morales, R.T.R.M CBPN-I are now certified breast patient navigators in the area of imaging.

Orange Regional Honors Physicians

Middletown, NY - Orange Regional Medical Center hosted its 2010 Physician Appreciation event on Sunday, June 13 at Glenmere Mansion in Chester. The event honored Orange Regional's medical staff for its commitment to delivering quality healthcare to the community. A special tribute was paid to William Gotsis, MD and Lewis Broslovsky, MD, for their outstanding leadership and achievements.
Dr. Gotsis was honored with the hospital's Leadership Award, presented to a physician who continuously takes an active role in the organization, enhances services, programs, education and relationships and exhibits positive leadership among his peers. He is Co-Director of Orange Regional Medical Center's Cardiac Catheterization Lab and served as Cardiology Department Chair and as a member of the Medical Executive Committee from 2002 - 2009.
Dr. Lewis Broslovsky received the prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award, given to a physician whose life's work has made a lasting impact on the quality of healthcare in the community. He was the Chair of the Obstetrics & Gynecology Department from January 1998 until September 2007 and served on the Transfusion, Operating Room, Medical Executive and Bylaws Committees.

Ray W. Moody MD Breast Center Receives Accreditation

(Middletown, NY) - Orange Regional Medical Center's Ray W. Moody, M.D. Breast Center has been granted a prestigious three-year, full accreditation designation by the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC), a program administered by the American College of Surgeons.
Accreditation by the NAPBC is only given to those centers that have voluntarily committed to provide the highest level of quality breast care and that undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance. During the survey process, the Ray Moody, M.D. Breast Center demonstrated compliance with standards established by the NAPBC for treating women who are diagnosed with the full spectrum of breast disease. The standards include proficiency in the areas of: center leadership, clinical management, research, community outreach, professional education, and quality improvement. A breast center that achieves NAPBC accreditation has demonstrated a firm commitment to offer its patients every significant advantage in their battle against breast disease.
