Orange Regional Medical Center and Catskill Regional Medical Center will present a free and informative diabetes program “Do A Diabetes 180: Turn Your Health Around” on Saturday, November 12, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. at Orange Regional Medical Center’s Outpatient Building, located at 707 East Main Street in Middletown. Diabetes educators and experienced physicians knowledgeable about diabetes will be on hand to discuss topics such as Diabetes and You: Circling Back on Your Health, Do a Meal Plan 180: Diabetes Super Foods, DiabeteZzz’s: The Importance of Getting Enough Sleep and more. Guest speakers will include Elliott Friedman, MD, FACE, Alan Schaffer, MD, FCCP, FAASM, and Director of the diabetes programs for Greater Hudson Valley Health System, Shelly DeHaan, RD, CDE.
According to the American Diabetes Association, over 29.1 million children and adults in the United States – 9.3% of the population – have diabetes. Diet, insulin, and oral medication to lower blood glucose levels are the foundation of diabetes treatment and management. Patient education and self-care practices are also important aspects of disease management that help people with diabetes lead normal lives.
