Event Brings Nursing Mothers Together in Celebration of National Breastfeeding Month
August is National Breastfeeding Month and Orange Regional Medical Center is inviting nursing mothers to come together at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, August 4 for The Big Latch On event. The gathering will take place at Orange Regional Medical Center’s main campus at 707 East Main Street in Middletown.
The Big Latch On is meant to raise awareness of the importance of breastfeeding and will include time to share experiences with fellow breastfeeding mothers, as well as guided learning. The day will begin with a group walk at 9:00 a.m. on the hospital’s fitness trail. Registration for the Big Latch On will take place following the walk at 10:00 a.m. in the Testa Healing Garden at Orange Regional’s main campus with the Big Latch On beginning at 10:30 a.m. In the event of inclement weather, the walk will be cancelled and the Big Latch On event will take place indoors in Conference Room 2 West.
National Breastfeeding Month is celebrated every year in August to encourage breastfeeding and improve the health of babies around the world. Since the launch of the Surgeon General’s Call to Action to Support Breastfeeding (SGCTA) in 2011, the breastfeeding field has grown in leaps and bounds.
