Middletown, NY – Orange Regional Medical Center welcomes two new members to its Board of Directors, Howard Mills and Patricia Claiborne.
Patricia Claiborne is the Executive Director of Cornell Cooperative Extension of Orange County, the premier research-based cooperative educational system focusing on issues that positively affect agriculture, families and youth, environment and economic development in our county. During her 33 years with Cornell Cooperative Extension, Claiborne has managed all aspects of operations, providing leadership and opportunities for the youth and families of Orange County.
Prior to her position as Executive Director, Claiborne served as a research assistant in Human Services Studies, as an Extension Associate for Division of Nutritional Science Cornell University, and provided training for the State Department of Social Services Adult and Child Welfare staff.
Claiborne is an active community member, serving on the Orange County Citizens Foundation Board, Cornell Cooperative Extension Epsilon Sigma Phi Board and the Middletown Kiwanis Board. She is currently Honorary Chairwoman for the 2008 Tribute to Women of Achievement of Orange County. She has received many awards and recognitions for her dedication to the community and her work.
Howard Mills is a director and chief advisor of the Insurance Industry Group of Deloitte & Touche USA, LLP. In his current role, Mills works with Deloitte’s clients in areas ranging from growth and globalization to managing the complexities of regulatory compliance. An experienced and prominent leader in the insurance industry, Mills came to Deloitte after serving as Superintendent of the New York State Insurance Department.
A former New York State Assemblyman, Mills served as the Deputy Minority Leader, sitting on the Banking, Housing, Insurance and Ways and Means Committees and was a member of the Armed Forces Legislative Caucus. Mills served as a Major in the New York Guard, 56th Brigade.
Mills currently serves as a board member of the Community Foundation of Orange County and is a past board member of Hospice of Orange and Sullivan Counties. He is the recipient of many awards for his work in the community.
