Middletown, NY- History is being made in New York, and Hudson Valley residents have an opportunity to become part of it. Last year, Orange Regional Medical Center launched its $21 million Building for Excellence Capital Campaign to help build a new, state-of-the-art hospital. As the campaign now enters the community phase, the individuals who have come to depend on the hospital and its services have the ability to ensure that high quality healthcare remains close to home.

“This campaign represents a real opportunity to have an impact on the health of our community,” said John Galanti, Building for Excellence campaign chair. “Investing in our future health will allow Orange Regional to maintain its position as a leader in providing the most comprehensive care to a rapidly growing and changing community.”

“In order for this campaign to be successful, we are going to need community-wide support,” added Christine Palmer Maraia, Orange Regional Foundation President. “Our thanks go out to everyone who has supported the early stages of this campaign. The question now should not be whether to participate, but at what level to support the crucial healthcare needs of the community.”

The individuals supporting Orange Regional are a varied and committed group of special friends of the hospital. Together, they have provided unprecedented support, already raising more than $17 million. As more and more individuals and businesses are becoming involved and responding with very generous pledges, the partnership between Orange Regional Medical Center and the communities it serves is more evident than ever.

“Making a gift to the Building for Excellence Capital Campaign is a gift to a community that prides itself on taking care of its own,” said Scott Batulis, President and CEO of Orange Regional Medical Center. “We are very excited to have the opportunity to continue that tradition of caring. If all goes as scheduled, the new hospital will be complete in the spring of 2011. Our plan is to become the best regional hospital in the State of New York. Thank you for your continued support as we journey toward that goal.”

“An opportunity of this magnitude doesn’t come along every day,” Galanti added. “We are inviting everyone who benefits from the services of Orange Regional Medical Center to participate in its future. The community needs to begin thinking about healthcare in a new way, and that begins with thinking about philanthropy in a new way. The future of Orange Regional is in the hands of our community. They can make this dream a reality, one donation at a time.”

Ways to give to the capital campaign include cash donations, securities or real estate, closely held stock, life insurance, provisions in a will or trust and corporate matching gifts.
