Free Seminar on Weight Loss Surgery Hosted by Orange Regional Medical Center

(Middletown, NY) -Orange Regional Medical Center will host a free Weight Loss Surgery Seminar on Tuesday, March 31 at The Lodge at Rock Hill, 283 Rock Hill Drive in Rock Hill and on Tuesday, April 7 at the Community Health Education Center, 110 Crystal Run Road in Middletown. Both programs begin at 6:00 p.m. Dr. Wayne Weiss, medical director of Orange Regional’s Bariatric (weight loss) Surgery Program, will discuss obesity treatment options including non-surgical approaches and gastric bypass and Lap-Band surgery. In addition, Orange Regional’s Bariatric Surgical Services Coordinator, Janet Kovler, M.S., R.D., C.D.N., C.D.E. will be on hand to answer questions about weight loss surgery options

Dr. Weiss is a board-certified surgeon affiliated with Tri-State Bariatrics in Middletown, New York. He specializes in minimally-invasive bariatric surgery. Dr. Weiss received his medical degree from New York University and completed a surgical residency at New York University Medical Center. He is a fellow of the American College of Surgeons and a Member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons. Ms. Kovler is a Certified Diabetes Educator, a Registered Certified Dietitian and an American Heart Association Certified Cardiovascular Counselor. She brings over twenty years of clinical, educational and leadership experience to Orange Regional’s Bariatric Surgery Program “Bariatric surgery can help those who have been unsuccessful with non-surgical weight loss programs and are suffering from obesity and obesity-related health conditions such as type 2 diabetes, heart disease or sleep apnea,” said Dr. Weiss. “Weight loss surgery is the first step of a lifelong commitment to healthy eating and physical activity habits as well as medical follow-up to improve your health.”
