Local Physicians Honored by Orange Regional Medical Center for Dedication to Community

April 22, 2007

Orange Regional Medical Center hosted its annual Physician Appreciation Social on Saturday, April 21, 2007 at the Harness Racing Museum and Hall of Fame. This event allows Orange Regional to publicly recognize members of its medical staff for their commitment to medical excellence. Orange Regional’s Board of Directors and Executive Management team hosted the social.

Each year, physicians are chosen by their peers for Lifetime Achievement and Leadership Awards. The Leadership Award recognizes involvement in the development of new or enhanced medical programs, promotion of staff education within the physician’s field and professional excellence. The 2007 Leadership Award recipient was Ronald Israelski, M.D., chairman of the Orthopedic Department. Dr. Israelski was instrumental in the creation of Orange Regional’s Bone and Joint Center and continues to foster progress of Orthopedic services at the hospital.

This year, two physicians were recognized as Lifetime Achievement honorees, retired medical staff member Robert Kirschner, M.D. and Vice President of Medical Affairs for Orange Regional, Mark A. Tuckfelt, M.D. This award is presented to physicians who have continually improved the level of patient care, whose professional body of work has served to elevate their profession, and who, through personal example, have earned the respect of their peers and the community.
