Middletown, NY- Orange Regional Medical Center is pleased to announce it recently earned its STAR Program® Certification (Survivorship Training and Rehabilitation) from the Oncology Rehab Partners. STAR Program Certification uniquely qualifies facilities like Orange Regional to offer premium Oncology Rehabilitation Services to survivors who suffer from debilitating side effects caused by treatment.
“We are thrilled to provide oncology rehabilitation to those that have experienced or are currently suffering from debilitating side effects from their cancer treatments,” says Orange Regional’s Director of Outpatient Rehabilitation, Diane Strysko. “Maintaining quality of life is the number one goal after treatment ends. This program would allow cancer patients optimal function.”
Rehabilitation for cancer patients can address many physical and emotional conditions including fatigue, emotional distress, unsteadiness, pain, muscle weakness, difficulty swallowing, numbness in the hands and feet, and cognitive changes such as problems with thinking, memory and behavior. Specialty caregivers from a variety of disciplines including physicians and physical and occupational therapists, speech pathologists, dieticians and mental health professionals work together to provide each patient with a personalized rehabilitation plan to increase strength and energy, alleviate pain, and improve daily function and quality of life.
To earn this designation, Orange Regional Medical Center successfully completed Oncology Rehab Partners unparalleled STAR Program Certification, a conventional medicine and evidence-based standardized model of oncology rehabilitation service delivery, successfully implementing the program’s evaluation and treatment protocols and rehabilitation training.
Most cancer rehabilitation services in the STAR Program are reimbursed by most health insurance providers. Check your insurance plan for specific rehabilitation benefits. A physician referral is required.
