Middletown, NY- The Orange Regional Medical Center Foundation, in partnership with the Orange County Office for the Aging, will host a free Caregiver Conference on Monday, September 30, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Orange Regional Medical Center, Conference Center, 707 East Main Street, Middletown. This conference, led by Gary Barg, Editor-in-Chief of Today’s Caregiver, will provide practical information, advice and support for challenges associated with caring for loved ones. A panel of experts will provide information on how to balance family, work and caregiving, as well as ways to overcome stress and depression and financially prepare and plan for your loved one’s care. Presenters will include: Director, Orange County Office for the Aging, AnnMarie Maglione; Estate planning attorney, Stefanie Sovak, Esq.; Orange Regional’s Physician Director of Behavioral Health Services, Dr. Carlos Rueda; Gerontologist, Dr. Larry T. Force; Pharmacist, Rory Garland and Captel Caption Telephone Outreach expert, Erin Howard.
According to the National Family Caregivers Association, 29% of the U.S. population provides care for a chronically ill, disabled or aged family member or friend during a given year. Most caregivers spend an average of 20 hours per week providing care for their loved one.
