Middletown, NY – Orange Regional Medical Center’s Trauma and Injury Prevention Program recently hosted a Car Seat Misuses demonstration to promote car seat safety. Hospital staff and visitors who wished to participate were asked to spot the misuses displayed in two car seat demonstrations set up incorrectly, in comparison to one car seat demonstration set up the correct way. Participants who were able to identify the misuses were given prizes. Orange Regional Car Seat Safety Technicians, Town of Wallkill Ambulance Corp. and Orange County Traffic Safety Program were available to site common car seat misuses such as loose harness straps, loose seats, incorrect use of lower anchors and use of non-regulated (aftermarket) products. Car Seat Safety Technicians also provided education on the proper installation and use of car safety seats. Orange Regional Medical Center is a Car Seat Fit Station offering certified technicians who install and teach parents and community members how to properly install child car seats to ensure maximum protection. To find out when the next Fit Station date is, call 333-1379.For more information on the Trauma and Injury Prevention Program, visit www.ormc.org/InjuryPrevention.
