Orange Regional Medical Center Is Designated As Car Seat Inspection Station

Middletown, NY – Orange Regional Medical Center has been designated as a Car Seat Inspection Station and will offer free installation of child passenger safety seats and education. The announcement comes in conjunction with National Child Passenger Safety Week which will be celebrated September 14 through 20.

With nine certified child passenger safety seat technicians on staff, Orange Regional will offer personalized, one-on-one inspection, consultation and instruction on car seats on Tuesday, September 16 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and Friday, September 19, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Appointments are preferred by calling 1-888-321-6762. Additionally, appointments will be available the first Tuesday of every month from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Inspections take place at Orange Regional Medical Center’s Emergency Department Entrance, located at 707 East Main Street in Middletown. All expectant parents and parents of children up to 12-years-old are welcome.

The Car Seat Inspection Program is supported by the Orange County Traffic Safety Program, and Orange Regional’s Child Passenger Safety Car Seat Inspection Station is led by EMS Liaison, Injury Prevention & Trauma Program Coordinator, Angela Marchionni, RN and Pediatric Nursing Director, Karin Kuhens, RN.

“Our mission is to provide a permanent site where caregivers can come to have their safety seats inspected as well as to provide as much education as possible. Our hope is to avoid potential injuries to children by ensuring proper installation of their safety seat, ” said Angela Marchionni, RN.

“Safety starts early,” said Karin Kuhens, RN. “We love the idea of teaching parents but we are also teaching children to take charge of their own safety at a young age. I think it sets a great example.”
