Orange Regional Medical Center Nurse Wins Coveted Award

Middletown, NY- Orange Regional Medical Center nurse director, Ann DiAgostino, RN, was named 2012 Nurse Leader by 1199SEIU RN Division and the League of Voluntary Hospitals and Homes at their annual awards ceremony held on May 21, 2012. The event is held annually in honor of nursing professionals for their dedicated work at 1199SEIU institutions. Nominees, selected for Nurse of Distinction, Nurse Leader, Preceptor and Novice, represent the pinnacle of nursing in New York State. This year’s awards ceremony, also known as “the Oscars” of nursing, was held at the Brooklyn Bridge Marriott on May, 21, 2012. Ms. DiAgostino was nominated by Orange Regional’s Nurse of Distinction Committee for her skill and dedication to her profession; patients; co-workers and the Hospital. Additionally, Orange Regional Medical Center’s Darian Fox, RN was second runner up for Nurse of Distinction.

“We are tremendously proud of Ms. DiAgostino. She is the epitome of nursing excellence and is a positive role model for all nursing professionals,” says Vice President, Patient Care Services and CNO, Joanne Ritter-Teitel, PhD, RN, CEA-BC. “Ms. DiAgostino represents the nursing care provided at Orange Regional.”

Ms. DiAgostino has a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing from Plattsburgh State University College and a Master’s degree in Leadership and Management from Walden University. Ms. DiAgostino is also a Certified Medical-Surgical Registered Nurse (CMSRN®) and is a Certified Pediatric Nurse (CPN). She was a member of the Orange Regional staff from 1994-2003 and returned to the Hospital in 2009.

This is the second year in a row that an Orange Regional nurse director has secured the top award in the Nurse Leaders Category. In 2011, Christopher Costello, RN, was the recipient of this award. Additionally in 2011, Orange Regional’s Linda Prioleau, was named Nurse of Distinction in a Hospital Setting.
