Orange Regional Medical Center Offers Free ‘Risk Reducer’ Support Group

The Ray W. Moody, MD Breast Center provides free support for persons at high risk for breast cancer.

Orange Regional Medical Center will offer the community a free ‘Risk Reducer’ Support Group on Wednesday, November 16, 2016 from 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. at the Spagnoli Family Cancer Center, Radiation Oncology Conference Room located on the main campus of Orange Regional Medical Center, 707 East Main Street in Middletown, NY. This support group is designed to offer resources, education and awareness to the high risk community by addressing the emotional and unique needs of persons at high risk for breast cancer, including BRCA and genetic positive individuals.

Featured presentation will be “Risk Reducing Resources” presented by Orange Regional Medical Group Medical Director of Breast Surgery and Breast Specialist, Hannah Brooks, MD, FACS; and Breast Cancer Patient Navigator, Michele Worden, BSN, RN, CBHN. The group will meet on a quarterly basis. Evan Milligram, a high risk survivor with personal experience, will serve as the support group facilitator. Each quarterly meeting will feature a high risk-related topic and guest speaker, educational materials, resources and an open forum for questions and discussion.

The support group will offer a forum for individuals to discuss the various approaches that they can take in order to minimize the risks of cancer and optimize breast health. Key preventive methods such as lifestyle changes, measures and strategies to address the challenges of and options for risk reduction will be included in each discussion.
