Yoga is an ancient tradition that incorporates meditation, deep breathing and movement through physical postures. Yoga may offer numerous physical beneficial effects such as increases in resistance to illness and disease, alleviates side effects, induces the “relaxation response”, supports a healthy immune system plus increases strength and flexibility and eases chronic pain. Practicing yoga may also promote stress reduction, improved body image and reduction in depression and anxiety. Additionally, this five week course will allow participants to interact with others who are facing cancer.
“I’m very excited to launch this program,” says Regina Toomey Bueno, Orange Regional’s Administrator of Oncology Services. “It’s another service Orange Regional provides to help our cancer patients through their diagnosis and treatment that offers many positive benefits and no harmful side effects.”
