Middletown, NY- The medical staff of Orange Regional Medical Center and the diabetes educators from the Orange Regional Dunkelman Diabetes Center will present a free and informative diabetes program on Saturday, November 12, 2011 from 8:00 a.m. -12:00 p.m. at Orange Regional Medical Center, 707 East Main Street, Middletown, NY. The event will be held in the Conference Center on the ground floor. Registration begins at 8:00 a.m.
Diabetes educators, nutrition counselors and experienced physicians knowledgeable about diabetes will be on hand to discuss topics such as Current Trends in Diabetes, Diabetes and the Kidney Connection and Diabetes and the Eye. Guest speakers will include Paul Baker, M.D., Rachel Colvin, D.O., Shelly DeHaan, R.D., C.D.E. and Elliott Friedman, M.D.
According to the American Diabetes Association, there are over 25.8 million children and adults in the United States – 8.3% of the population – that have diabetes. In 2010, 1.9 million new cases of diabetes were diagnosed in people aged 20 years and older.
