Orange Regional’s Director of Respiratory Services becomes Member of the Board of American Association for Respiratory Care

November 30, 2009

Middletown, New York – Orange Regional Medical Center is proud to announce that Frank R. Salvatore Jr., RRT, MBA, FAARC, Director of Respiratory Services, was elected as a member of The American Association for Respiratory Care’s (AARC) Board of Directors. Mr. Salvatore will serve in this position for a three-year term. The AARC encourages and promotes professional excellence, advances the science and practice of respiratory care, and serves as an advocate for patients, their families, the public, the profession and the respiratory therapist.

Mr. Salvatore’s role on the Board of Directors is to assist the AARC in achieving its vision/mission of continuing to be the leading national and international professional association for respiratory care. His participation will give Orange Regional representation at the most prominent organization for respiratory therapists in the world. This involvement will bring knowledge to the hospital on the current state of respiratory therapy and what the future of the profession holds for practitioners and patients. Mr. Salvatore will gain the ability to network with leaders of the profession to garner information on best practice in the industry.

In addition to this honor, he will continue to serve on AARC’s Federal Government Affairs Committee, which he has chaired for the past five years. In this position, he leads the Political Advocacy Contact Team (PACT), charged with growing the grass-roots involvement of respiratory therapists in advocating for our patients and the profession on a national level.

The Committee is currently working with the AARC and its PACT to achieve recognition of respiratory therapists under Medicare Part B. The hope is that this recognition will allow patients with lung disease to have access to a professional who can influence their medical outcomes by improving patient’s’ knowledge and compliance with their disease and its management.
