Middletown, NY — In an on-going effort to fight a disease that affects nearly 8% of the population, Orange Regional Medical Center’s Stanley S. Dunkelman Diabetes Treatment Center has moved to a new and convenient location at 110 Crystal Run Road in Middletown. The Center’s new phone number is 845-692-8084. The Stanley S. Diabetes is a disease in which the body does not produce or properly use insulin. Insulin is a hormone that is needed to convert sugar, starches and other food into energy needed for daily life. There are 23.6 million children and adults in the United States who have diabetes.
The Center’s team of nationally certified diabetes educators has over 30 years of combined diabetes education experience. Compassionate staff members work with diabetic patients and their doctors to develop an individualized program to manage the disease. The Center provides comprehensive education and support for children, adolescent and adult patients with diabetes and pre-diabetes including:
• nutritional counseling
• blood glucose monitoring (meters provided free of charge)
• continuous glucose monitoring (7-day sensor)
• insulin instruction
• insulin pump training
• diabetes self-management classes
• a diabetes in pregnancy program
Additionally, the Center offers adult and child support groups for diabetic patients and their families, as well as an insulin pump support group.
The Center’s educators hold degrees in nutrition or nursing and keep up to date and certified in the most advanced technologies, such as insulin pumps and glucose sensors. This dedication provides diabetic patients and their family members with the latest information about diabetes management and products.
