Vascular Services

Through our Vascular program, led by Raghuram Gorti, M.D., we are offering diagnosis, treatment, and management of conditions in our patients' arteries and veins, or blood vessels. Our specialized vascular team help treat patients with an array of health conditions, from varicose veins to life-threatening aneurysms. Some specific conditions that we treat, include:

Atherosclerosis is a disease process leading to hardening and narrowing (stenosis) of your arteries through the buildup of fat, cholesterol, calcium and other substances. Advanced conditions in which arteries become significantly narrowed can lead to serious problems including heart attack, stroke, amputation and death.

Carotid Artery Disease

The carotid arteries are the two main arteries in your neck that supply blood to your brain. Over time, plaque may accumulate inside your arteries and build up causing them to narrow - this is known as, carotid stenosis. This build up can cause small clots to form, which may break off, travel to the brain, and cause a minor or major stroke.

Varicose Veins

Through our vein treatment program, we are offering patients surgical & cosmetic treatment of varicose vein ablation and sclerotherapy for spider veins.

Diagnosis and Treatment of Vascular Disease

Our Vascular surgeon and clinical care providers have an integrated, personalized approach of diagnosing and developing a treatment plan for your vascular disease or condition. Our team will begin by taking an in-depth look at your medical history, lifestyle factors that may affect your health, and an analysis of your symptoms through a physician consultation, a physical exam, as well as possible other diagnostic testing.

Through this discovery phase, our Vascular specialists will develop an individualized treatment plan for you. This may include:

  • Lifestyle changes
  • Prescription medicines to lower your risk of blood clots
  • Catheter-based procedures
  • Compression Therapy
  • Surgery to repair or removed damaged or disease blood vessels

In some cases, your treatment may include surgery; however, our Vascular specialists often treat patients with conditions that are best resolved through medication and lifestyle changes. In any case, our team is here to make sure you understand your condition, the treatment options available to you, and ensure that you are given the best treatment for your particular need. Some common surgeries or catheter-based procedures, include:

Angioplasty is a common treatment type for patients with atherosclerosis. This procedure is utilized to restore blood flow through arteries that have been narrowed or blocked by plaque build-up. Within the procedure, a thin tube with a tiny balloon on it is guided through a blood vessel into the intended site in the artery. Once in place, the balloon is inflated which pushes the plaque outward against the wall of the artery, widening the vessel and restoring blood flow.

Dialysis is the process of cleaning and filtering your blood if, for instance, your kidneys fail and you are in need of a transplant. Until a successful kidney transplant occurs, a dialysis is needed to control your blood pressure, maintain chemical balance, as well as remove waste, salt and excesses water from building up in the body.

Aortic Stenting

Aortic stenting is a catheter procedure used for the treatment of aneurysms. It is an alternative to open surgery for patients who qualify - depending on location and complexity of the aneurysm. This procedure uses a guided wire and expandable stent graft are positioned within your artery by means of a thin tube (catheter) and image-guided assistance. Once placed, the stent is allowed to expand which allows blood to flow through the graft while cutting off circulation to a patient's aneurysm.

Femoral Surgery

The femoral artery is the largest artery located in the thigh largely responsible for supplying blood to the leg. Femoral surgery is used to treat a patient's femoral artery that has been blocked due to plaque buildup or atherosclerosis.
