Throughout your pregnancy, you likely have many questions about delivering your baby. It’s important to have a compassionate maternity team devoted to providing the information you need while prioritizing your overall well-being. The midwives, neonatologists, obstetricians and neonatal nurses in our labor and delivery clinics at Garnet Health are ready to ensure your journey to motherhood is truly exceptional for you, your newborn and your family.

Labor & Delivery Suites

The Rowley Family Birthing Center at Garnet Health Medical Center in Middletown encompasses the entire sixth floor of the medical center and offers a 10-bed Level II Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The NICU is staffed by full-time neonatologists for babies who need a higher level of care when they are born. For parents in Harris and the surrounding communities, the Family Birthing Center at Garnet Health Medical Center -⁠ Catskills provides the expert care you need close to home.

Patient rooms in both of our birthing centers are designed to provide a calm, comforting experience. Every room has a private bathroom, as well as a sleeper sofa for your birthing partner. A Jacuzzi tub is also available to help you relax and ease into the birthing experience. Our labor and delivery centers offer additional  amenities, including:

• Private birthing facilities, including labor and delivery suites, secluded postpartum rooms, triage spaces and cesarean delivery rooms
• Comfort-focused spaces with temperature control, high-definition TVs, scenic views and luxurious bed sheets
• Dedicated visiting hours to help you rest and focus on postpartum recovery
• Secure, locked facilities, so only the friends and family you want to see are allowed to visit
• Relaxing waiting rooms with Wi-Fi and a DVD player for family and friends

Interested in seeing our delivery clinics? In-person tours, led by one of Garnet Health’s registered nurses, are available by request. You will become familiar with the layout of the birthing center and specific rooms to help you get ready for the big day. 

Labor & Delivery Specialists

At Garnet Health, we support your birthing plan and will prioritize an exceptional experience for the well-being of you and your new baby. As part of this care, and to prepare you for your delivery date, we have partnered with the Maternal Infant Services Network to offer childbirth classes in Orange, Sullivan and Ulster counties.

During your time in our labor and delivery unit, our staff will help facilitate skin-to-skin contact between you and your baby. This helps nurture an important initial parent-child bond. We also offer breastfeeding support services conducted by a board-certified lactation consultant, as well as a variety of support classes and programs. These include Car Seat Fittings for Parents & Kids, Parenting Basics Class and Sibling Preparation Class, to prepare you for parenthood and help your growing family adjust.
