Women's Imaging & Diagnostic Testing
Orange Regional Medical Center Oncology and Radiation Therapy Service line works seamlessly and synergistically with Diagnostic Imaging to provide a comprehensive Women's Imaging program. Board-certified and Fellowship trained radiologists use high-end image distribution and speech technology to generate the highest quality reports and procedures in industry best times.
The Ray W. Moody, M.D. Breast Center offers state-of-the-art, non-invasive and minimally invasive diagnostic technology including: Screening and Diagnostic Mammography, 3D Mammography, Breast Ultrasound, Fine Needle Aspiration (FNA), Ultrasound guided FNA/Vacuum-assisted Biopsy, Stereotactic Vacuum-assisted Breast Biopsy, and Galactograms.
Our Mammography services provide examinations with traditional, full field digital and 3D mammography technology - improving early detection of breast irregularities.
This non-invasive, non-radiation procedure is performed by the radiologist using ultrasound guidance – an imaging method that uses high-frequency sound waves to produce precise images of structures within your breasts to detect disease and locate possible abnormalities.
Our comprehensive Breast Biopsy services offers multiple systems and technology that allow early detection and precise treatment plans for breast cancer patients.
Performed on our high-field Open Bore MRI, this Computer-Aided Detection (CAD) technology is for women at high risk for developing breast cancer. The breast MRI and MRI-guided biopsy are powerful tools for breast-cancer screening which helps patients get earlier and more precise treatments.
Technical staff are New York State licensed and American Registry of Radiologic Technologist certified. Specially trained and certified diagnostic imaging registered nurses assure patient safety and support for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures.
About Breast Cancer
Breast cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the breast. The damaged cells can invade surrounding tissue, but with early detection and treatment, most people continue a normal life.
One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime.
- Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in women.
- Breast cancer is the second leading cause of death among women.
- Each year it is estimated that over 220,000 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 40,000 will die.
- Although breast cancer in men is rare, an estimated 2,150 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer and approximately 410 will die each year.
Women, age 40 and over, should have a screening mammogram every year, according to the American Cancer Society. Early detection of breast cancer is vital in the successful treatment of breast cancer.
