Garnet Health offers quality, compassionate emergency care when you need it most. We understand how stressful emergency situations can be for you and your family. Led by our Emergency Department Medical Director for Middletown, Matthew Meigh, DO, FACOEP and our Emergency Department Medical Director for our Catskills locations, Trevor K. McGinley, MD, our staff works hard to make your admittance and stay at our emergency department as effective, fast and comfortable as possible. We offer emergency care in Orange and Sullivan counties at the following facilities: 

At Garnet Health, our multidisciplinary teams of specialists collaborate so you receive top-level care.  Whether you need an x-ray or a ct-scan, we will bring the tools and machines needed to your bedside to triage and execute your medical care. Our emergency services at Garnet Health Medical Center have received the honor of being named a Top Performer by Schumacher Clinical Partners, a group that oversees over 300 emergency sites around the country.

Emergency Care Services & Specialties

We offer a wide range of emergency services to you and your loved ones. Visit a Garnet Health emergency department if you are experiencing severe or life-threatening conditions or medical needs, such as the following:

  • May be having a heart attack, stroke or seizure, or experience sudden loss of vision
  • May be having a miscarriage
  • Have experienced major injuries or wounds
  • Has been involved in a high speed motor vehicle accident
  • Has fallen from greater than 5 feet
  • Are coughing up or vomiting blood
  • Have severe abdominal pain or extreme vomiting
  • Have severe shortness of breath or a severe asthma attack
  • Are in Diabetic ketoacidosis
  • Have sustained a significant head injury
  • Have sustained a back injury and now cannot walk
  • Have loss of bowel/bladder function
  • Are experiencing suicidal or homicidal feelings

Additionally, our emergency care includes a variety of specialized services, including, but not limited to:

  • Our behavioral health access center for patients who require psychiatric emergency services
  • The children’s emergency department, separate and secure from our adult patient area 
  • Our trauma center, with fully equipped trauma bays in a specialized treatment area where trauma patients are taken upon arrival
  • A transfer center, to ensure rapid and efficient transportation and acceptance of our emergency patients
  • Sexual assault examination services, with compassionate professionals who specialize in collecting evidence and caring for victims
  • Our stroke center, specializing in strokes and other stroke-related emergencies 
  • Teleburn services, which allow our doctors to directly communicate with expert burn specialists 24 hours a day, seven days a week via secure online connections
